Carys Valmont

Carys Valmont

Head of Car Buying & Vehicle Salvage

Carys Valmont has been a huge part of the NSW car world for 23 years. She started out in 2003 as a trainee who loved taking things apart to see how they worked. Now, she’s the main person at Cash For Cars NSW who helps you get the most money for your old or broken vehicle.

She has personally looked at over 12,000 cars, from dusty old farm utes to fancy city SUVs that no longer run. Because she’s been doing this since 2003, she can spot the value in a car in just a few seconds. Her main goal is to make sure people in Sydney and across NSW get a fair go and that every scrap car is handled in a way that’s good for our environment.

What She Knows Best

  • Finding the hidden value in cars that other wreckers think are worthless.
  • Making sure all the old battery acid and coolant is sucked out safely.
  • Listening to an engine to tell exactly which part is broken.
  • Helping families get cash for cars that were stuck in floods or big bushfires.
  • Checking the “Blue Book” and metal markets so your cash offer is high.
  • Knowing which car parts are in high demand in the Sydney area.
  • Making sure the car frame is chopped up and recycled into new steel.
  • Using the PPSR system to make sure the car sale is 100% legal and safe.
  • Explaining the paperwork to customers so they don’t get confused.
  • Finding expensive bits like copper wiring and radiator brass.

Her Special Skills

  • Diagnosing tricky computer problems in modern “smart” cars.
  • Knowing how big diesel trucks and small petrol hatchbacks are different.
  • Checking the chassis to see if the metal is still strong or just rusty.
  • Cleaning up chemical spills in the yard so the grass and water stay safe.
  • Sorting through piles of scrap to find “Grade A” aluminium and lead.
  • Following all the strict NSW Transport and safety laws.
  • Using high-tech saws and drills to dismantle cars without making a mess.
  • Grading used gearboxes and alternators to see if they can be sold again.
  • Working with “green” workshop rules to keep the air in NSW clean.
  • Checking local auction prices to make sure her quotes are the best.

Her Education and Certificates

Carys spent a long time in school to make sure she’s a real expert:

  • Certificate III in Automotive (Mechanical Technology): Earned at TAFE NSW (2003).
  • NSW Fair Trading Licence: This is the legal permit she needs to buy cars for scrap.
  • Environmental Safety Badge: A special course on how to drain cars without leaks.
  • MTA NSW Member: She’s an official part of the Motor Traders Association.

Her Career Path

Carys hasn’t just been sitting behind a desk; she’s been in the yard and the workshop since 2003!

Her Main Goal

Carys believes that no car is truly “junk.” Her mission is to make selling your old car as easy as walking the dog, while making sure every single piece of metal is reused to help the planet!
